Areca Has Supported the Greater Than 2TB per Disk Drive

Taipei, Taiwan, April 20, 2011-- Areca Technology Corporation (ARECA), today announced that their SAS and SATA ll RAID firmware version 1.49 date: 12/2/2010 and later has supported the greater than 2TB per disk drive, allowing customer using the Areca's entire family PCI-X and PCI-Express series of high performance SAS and SATA ll RAID controllers and need to have high capacity on single drive from Hitachi, Seagate and Western Digital.

Many disk manufactures has announced the launch of the 3TB hard drive. This is a big announcement in the world of computing, because until now storage drives have been limited to a maximum capacity of 2.19TB.

3TB capacity drive support is available for all Areca series raid cards. Desktop drives are always not recommended to use on the enterprise application. Desktop drives are not designed for array application which may be not reliable enough. The other important reason is that most of hard drive vendors do not support desktop issues in array applications.
